Stephen Carrick-Davies

Stephen Carrick-Davies is the CEO of Childnet International, a UK-based not-for-profit organization established in 1995 with the mission to work with others to “help make the Internet a great and safe place for children”. He represents the organization on a number of important bodies and seeks to make sure that children and young people’s voices and concerns regarding the Internet are heard at the highest levels. These bodies include the UK Government’s Home Office Task Force on Child Protection on the Internet, and the Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI) in the US, of whose advisory board he is a member.

Mr. Carrick-Davies has also served as a judge on a number of Internet and mobile competitions and award programs, including the GSM and UK ISPA awards, the Jamaican school IT competition and Childnet’s own Academy judging panel.

Mr. Carrick-Davies has been invited to speak on issues related to children’s use of the Internet throughout the UK and around the world.

He recently traveled to Malaysia, Egypt, Poland and Brazil to motivate children and young people and help other stakeholders to think about how they engage with the Internet and Internet technologies. A pragmatist, he promotes a balanced approach to online risks, highlighting the positive opportunities that engagement in the online world can bring young people.
